Have you ever noticed that your kids pick up exactly what you’re feeling, even when you haven’t said a word? Our kids meet us at our frequency.
Think of it like an FM radio dial. Our kids come in tuned to 103 FM: light, fun, lit up. And so many of us are still sitting down at 89.5, carrying the conditioning we were handed as kids.
This week I share a message from my grandmother, a special education teacher who worked until she was 72 and who still guides me in spirit. Her message was simple: you have the tools inside of you. You just have to tune in.
The guided meditation for this episode
Ready to move this energy up and out? Episode 114 is a nine-minute guided meditation that goes with this episode, to calm big emotions and heal your inner child.
In this episode
- My grandmother’s message, spirit to spirit: the answers are within you
- Why our kids mirror our frequency, and what the radio dial has to do with it
- The conditioning so many of us carry, like perfectionism and body image, and how inner child work and shadow work help us see it
- The sacral chakra: just below the navel, orange, and the home of our emotions, flow, joy and intimacy
- Naming our emotions, and what flow has to do with meltdowns
- Making decisions with your body’s “yes” and “no”
- Solfeggio frequencies, and asking your kids body-based questions
Try this: the 5-minute reset
When you feel yourself getting pulled off your frequency, step away for five minutes. The bathroom works. So does an empty meeting room.
Put one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly, and breathe down into your belly. Notice what you’re feeling and give it a name. Then come back when you feel like you again.
With your kids, try a body-based question: instead of “What’s wrong?” ask, “Where do you feel that in your body?”
“We’re breaking free of these molds that we thought we had to become.”
